Biography

We are Rare Fiction, an indie rock band from Bristol, TN. Our dynamic music is a mixture of upbeat guitar-driven and acoustic-focused songs that offer a variety of sounds and textures. Rare Fiction features Chris Blevins on drums, Lee Jones on bass and vocals, and Chris Martin on vocals and acoustic / electric guitar, and James Eaton on lead electric guitar and vocals (that’s right – we are a 2-chris band!).

Our music can be heard anywhere you stream music (Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube Music, etc. ). “Reboot” was our very first single and highlights our upbeat guitar-driven sound. You can see the music video for it on our Youtube channel. Our latest single “Reasons” continues the legacy of upbeat music but adds more introspective lyrics.

We have released new music during the last 2 years, which we’ve already incorporated into our set. Our most recent EP, So, What Now? with 7 new songs dropped in May and our last EP called You Know It’s True was released in 2024 and features 8 songs.

Our standard set list is around 2 hours. The majority of the songs being our original music with a few covers across genres and decades to connect with the crowd and have some fun. Our set can be adapted depending on the needs of the venue. We are comfortable in almost any space, playing acoustic or full band, and have previously played for as short as 45 mins and as long as 3 hours.

A few local venues we’ve played across the region are Bristol Hard Rock Casino, Cascade Draft House, Gypsy Circus Cider (Kingsport), High Knob Outdoor Festival (Lebanon, Va), Preservation Pub (Knoxville) Jiggy Ray’s Downtown Pizzeria, High Voltage, Mountain Bar and Grill, Jonesborough Barrel House & Tavern, Lonesome Pine Brewing Co., Blue Circle, The Damascus Brewery, State Line Bar & Grill, Quaker Steak and Lube, 1907 Brewing Company, among others.
